Senior Staff Software Engineer (C/C++/S3)

Location: Hybrid, with Santa Clara colocation or remote work from North Carolina

What you will do

• Maintain, extend, and improve the S3 implementation.
• Design and develop system software in C/C++ under tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Define technical designs and participate in technical reviews throughout development.
• Develop applications through design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
• Architect and troubleshoot file-system and storage-system components, including monitoring, health checks, and alerting.
• Research technical problems, support production deployments, resolve defects, and mentor junior developers.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in system software development and complex problem resolution.
• Expert knowledge of C/C++ and strong Linux development and deployment skills, including file-system development.
• Strong understanding of operating-system principles, kernel procedures, and Linux file systems.
• Experience with development tools including GCC, GDB, G++, and Git.
• Experience designing and developing parallel programs, with knowledge of user-space I/O frameworks such as FUSE and SPDK.
• Good written and verbal English communication skills are required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of RDMA, libfabric, zero-copy, verbs, TCP/IP, or complex network programming.
• Experience with performance engineering and Scrum Agile.
