Senior Software Engineer (C++)

Location: Hybrid; on-site in San Jose, California three days per week. Applicants must meet U.S. export-control eligibility requirements and be eligible to access controlled information.

Salary: $232,000–$261,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Architect, develop, and deploy cloud image-processing and ML serving infrastructure for ground data products.
• Design distributed, low-latency systems that scale across cloud workloads and multiple customer data feeds.
• Define interfaces for data pipelines to invoke performant native and accelerated code.
• Build production serving paths for image-data pipelines and extend the architecture for onboard-compute missions and future accelerators.
• Deliver high-performance reference implementations, benchmarks, and verification and validation tests.
• Mentor engineers and produce technical designs, trade studies, and interface documentation.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including technical leadership in distributed computation or data-intensive systems.
• Expert-level C++ with strong knowledge of memory management, concurrency, and performance-oriented production programming.
• Strong PyTorch experience and production experience running models in cloud-based C++ runtimes using LibTorch or an equivalent.
• Experience architecting low-latency distributed systems for image processing, ML, data analysis, or computer vision.
• Strong Python skills and experience integrating native optimized implementations.
• Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance, plus eligibility to access U.S. export-controlled information.

Nice to have

• Experience with TPUs or other accelerators and accelerator tradeoff analysis.
• Inference optimization using quantization, graph compilation, or kernel fusion.
• GPU acceleration with CUDA, HIP, or similar technologies.
• CI/CD for containerized workloads and performance regression testing.
• Experience with space, aerospace, or other mission-critical software environments.
