TL;DR
Operations Manager (Government) (Telecommunications): Leading the operation and maintenance of mission-critical government telecommunications network services with an accent on service assurance, operational governance, and continuity of operations. Focus on coordinating NOC/SOC and service-management functions, ensuring operational readiness, and directing major-incident response, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.

Location: Chantilly, Virginia, United States; onsite five days per week. No relocation is offered.

Salary: $125,000–$275,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Lead the performance, operations, maintenance, and service assurance of critical government network services.
  • Direct governance across NOC/SOC operations, service desk, incident, problem, change, maintenance, restoration, fault, and performance-management processes.
  • Establish operational standards, escalation paths, performance measures, service reviews, and continuous-improvement practices.
  • Coordinate with program management, engineering, security, testing, implementation, BSS/OSS, suppliers, subcontractors, and customer stakeholders.
  • Ensure new and transitioned services meet operational-readiness criteria before production acceptance, including monitoring, documentation, training, and support handoffs.
  • Oversee operational reporting, service-level performance, major-incident response, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and chronic-issue resolution.

Requirements

  • Customer-specific clearances are required.
  • At least 10 years of experience managing services in safety-critical environments as defined by the FAA.
  • Leadership experience in complex telecommunications, managed networks, enterprise IT, or mission-critical operations.
  • Experience with network monitoring, service assurance, incident/problem/change management, maintenance, restoration, and operational performance.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and coordinate with customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and technical organizations.
  • Strong executive communication, customer-engagement, analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting the FAA National Airspace System or equivalent mission-critical federal telecommunications networks.
  • Experience with NOC/SOC, service desk, BSS/OSS, service assurance, operational readiness, and performance-management environments.
  • Knowledge of IT service-management practices; ITIL or comparable certification is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, information technology, telecommunications, computer science, or a related field.
