Electric High Voltage Product Design Engineer II (Control Systems)

Location: Gaffney, South Carolina, United States; onsite. Applicants must be able to work in or relocate to Gaffney, SC. Relocation assistance is not available.

Starting salary: $86,000–$110,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Define, implement, validate, and release software for high-voltage supervisory control systems.
• Develop control strategies for eDrive, powertrain, charging, and related high-voltage components.
• Coordinate software communication and functional implementation across powertrain ECUs and vehicle systems.
• Support requirements definition, functional decomposition, functional safety work products, and system validation.
• Lead issue resolution during system- and vehicle-level validation, including controller interoperability problems.
• Support electric test vehicle rollouts, testing workshops, and optimization of electrified powertrain efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, with 2–4 years of relevant industry experience.
• Extensive experience developing model-based automotive or heavy-duty vehicle software with MATLAB and Simulink.
• Experience creating control-system requirements and test plans, developing diagnostic strategies, and working with automotive software.
• Experience with vehicle networks, CAN, communication protocols, DFMEA, and ISO 26262 functional safety analysis.
• Ability to lead cross-functional international teams, translate business needs into technical requirements, and manage detailed work in changing environments.
• Fluent English required; low to moderate travel of approximately 10% is expected.

Nice to have

• Experience with electric powertrain or mechatronic systems, high-voltage automotive controls, and commercial vehicle design.
• Proficiency with OpenECU, Pi Innovo, MATLAB/Simulink, and Jira.
• Experience with J1939 CAN, UDS, CCP, LIN, J1772, DIN 70121, or ISO 15118-20.
• Previous experience leading or mentoring engineers; additional languages are appreciated.
