High School Apprentice Teacher

What you will do

• Observe Master Teachers and co-teach with teacher-leaders to develop classroom instruction and management skills.
• Provide daily one-on-one and small-group tutoring, interventions, and student support.
• Plan and deliver instruction in one content area across multiple grades, gradually taking on additional teaching responsibility.
• Implement curricula, design assessments, analyze student data, and refine instructional practices.
• Support classroom operations through grading, substitute coverage, student supervision, advising, and communication with families and colleagues.
• Participate in professional development, coaching, school events, enrichment classes, and student mentoring.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university before employment begins.
• Must meet New York State teacher certification eligibility requirements.
• If the degree is not in education, enrollment in a teacher preparation program and maintenance of a GPA of 2.5 or higher are required.
• Commitment to educating urban students and alignment with hirify.global’ educational philosophy.
• Strong communication, organization, time management, problem-solving, adaptability, and teamwork skills.
• Teacher certification is not required at hiring, but certification in New York State is required within a reasonable period after starting employment.

• Previous experience working in schools or urban communities.
