Bad Faith, Claim Litigation Counsel (Insurance)

Location: Bethesda, Maryland, United States; hybrid role requiring 3 days in office per week

Annual salary: $151,700–$235,750

What you will do

• Manage strategy for high-profile bad faith and complex litigation matters.
• Advise Claims Operations and business stakeholders on litigation strategy, risk management, trial preparation, and insurance coverage.
• Manage and coordinate outside counsel while maintaining control over case strategy, expenses, and resolution.
• Coordinate internal discovery with Operations, Technology, and legal management.
• Research legislation, regulations, insurance trends, and litigation procedures.
• Advise hirify.global leadership on pending litigation and emerging litigation trends.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• At least 5 years of litigation management experience in a law firm, government, or in-house legal department.
• Experience managing high-stakes, complex litigation, including trial and appellate matters.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to balance legal risk with business objectives and explain complex legal concepts to non-lawyers.

Nice to have

• Experience with bad faith, bodily injury, insurance coverage, or insurance-company litigation.
• Experience advising an insurance claims organization.
• Experience working with cross-functional legal and non-legal teams.
