Senior Advanced Recording Subsystem Engineer, Head Disk Electrical (HAMR)

hirify.global’s Design Engineering organization develops advanced recording technologies and hard disk drive products through collaboration across electrical, mechanical, servo, firmware, test, manufacturing, and research disciplines.

What you will do

• Develop advanced recording technologies for future hard disk drive products, including HAMR for nearline storage.
• Investigate ATI mitigation, advanced laser control, VBAR algorithms, and head-media electrical characterization.
• Design, integrate, test, and optimize recording subsystems and component interactions.
• Build proof-of-concept demonstrations and conduct research into next-generation storage technologies.
• Design experiments, perform laboratory measurements, and develop software scripts and analytical tools for automation and data processing.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering experts and progressively take ownership of technical research projects.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Physics, Photonics, or a related technical field.
• Strong foundation in electromagnetics, applied physics, signal processing, or related engineering fundamentals.
• Programming experience in Python, C/C++, and Procomm Plus.
• Experience with experimental research, laboratory measurements, data analysis, modelling, or technical investigations.
• Familiarity with scientific methods, hypothesis-driven experimentation, and proof-of-concept development.
• Hands-on, analytical, independent, adaptable, and collaborative approach to complex engineering problems.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of magnetic recording, data storage systems, spintronics, photonics, optics, or semiconductor technologies.
