Platform Engineer (AWS)

Location: Remote within the UK; applicants must be UK based and eligible for UK security clearance.

What you will do

• Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot Kahootz’s AWS-based production platform across availability, capacity, performance, and service health.
• Investigate incidents involving AWS services such as EC2, RDS, IAM, networking, CloudWatch, and CloudTrail, and implement lasting fixes.
• Build infrastructure-as-code, automated deployment patterns, scripts, runbooks, and documentation for repeatable environments.
• Modernise the platform through containerisation, Kubernetes, improved delivery automation, and scalable platform components.
• Support specialist projects and expansion into new markets by assessing integrations and secure, maintainable architecture options.
• Strengthen security, compliance, vulnerability remediation, business continuity, and disaster recovery in collaboration with R&D, DevOps, support, and operations.

Requirements

• UK-based and eligible for UK security clearance.
• Degree in computer science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting production workloads in AWS, including services such as EC2, RDS, S3, EFS, ECS, Route53, ACM, and WAF.
• Good understanding of Linux, networking, cloud infrastructure, SaaS operations, software delivery lifecycles, and DevOps practices.
• Practical scripting or coding experience with Bash, Ansible, Python, or a comparable language, plus Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with container workflows, Kubernetes deployments, monitoring, logging, incident management, and secure engineering practices.

Nice to have

• Experience in a SaaS or software-delivery environment.
• Experience working effectively in a remote or distributed team.
• Exposure to vulnerability-management tools such as CrowdStrike, Rapid7, or SecurityScorecard.
