Vacuum System Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Wilton, Connecticut, United States; full-time on-site. Up to 10% travel within the US and internationally. A flexible arrangement of up to two remote days per week may be available where applicable, but regular on-site presence is required.

What you will do

• Design vacuum-system and gas-flow architectures for EUV scanners and test rigs.
• Specify vacuum components, materials, standards, pump-down procedures, venting procedures, and technical documentation.
• Define and execute qualification tests, design of experiments, and analyses for vacuum performance, degassing, pressure drop, flow, humidification, and gas purity.
• Resolve particle contamination and cleanliness issues through analysis, troubleshooting, flushing procedures, and practical recommendations.
• Participate in design reviews and integrate vacuum subsystems across hardware projects and the product development lifecycle.
• Lead the Wilton engineering guild for machine-conditioning architecture and vacuum-systems competence while collaborating across hirify.global units and research partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field and 5+ years of relevant experience; a master’s degree or PhD is preferred.
• Experience specifying vacuum systems, gas flows, pump-down and vent procedures, and subsystem architectures.
• Knowledge of molecular and particle cleanliness, materials compatibility, desorption, contamination control, and vacuum-grade cleanliness.
• Ability to plan tests and experiments, analyze measurement results, perform flow and pressure-drop calculations, and document technical evidence.
• Strong technical writing, communication, collaboration, ownership, and cross-functional leadership skills.
• Must be legally authorized to access controlled technology under US export regulations before beginning the role.

Nice to have

• Experience with particle transport, rarefied gas flow, plasma physics, electrostatics, surface science, RGA, vacuum measurement techniques, or surface science.
• Experience with modeling and simulation tools for gas flow, vacuum performance, contamination transport, or thermal-fluid behavior.
• Experience with semiconductor manufacturing equipment, EUV lithography, or large capital-equipment development.
