Director of Engineering (AI)

What you will do

• Build and lead the engineering organisation, including hiring key engineering roles.
• Manage delivery of key project milestones and take systems through qualification, flight testing, trials, and series production.
• Own the full technical chain across airframe, propulsion, avionics, launcher, and ground-segment systems.
• Manage engineering managers while remaining engaged in multidisciplinary design reviews and cross-module technical decisions.
• Develop the supplier base and engineering ecosystem required for sustained production.

Requirements

• MSc in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, or a closely related engineering field; substantial organisation-building experience may outweigh the degree.
• Engineering background with progression into management and managing managers.
• 10+ years of experience, including at least 4 years in engineering management.
• Experience establishing or materially scaling an engineering site, including hiring at pace.
• Track record of taking a hardware system through qualification and into series production, ideally in UAV, autonomous systems, or advanced robotics.
• Credibility across multiple engineering disciplines and willingness to take written positions on unresolved cross-module questions.
