Engineering Manager, Research Tools (AI)

TL;DR

Engineering Manager (AI/Distributed Systems): Leading a team of ML and distributed systems experts to build tools for large-scale distributed finetuning and researcher productivity with an accent on efficiency and fast iteration. What you will do

• Prioritize team work in collaboration with technical leads, research, and product teams to support fast iteration.
• Design and implement operational processes, including postmortem reviews, incident response, and on-call rotations.
• Coach and mentor direct reports to facilitate their professional growth and career development.
• Lead recruiting efforts to efficiently grow the team during a period of rapid expansion.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in people management.
• Must be based in or able to work from the San Francisco or New York City offices.
• Ability to quickly grasp complex technical systems at a high level.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

Nice to have

• Experience working with research teams within a "research to production" pipeline.
• Strong project management skills, specifically in prioritization and cross-organizational communication.
• Experience in recruiting: designing interview loops, predicting staffing needs, and closing candidates.
