Safety Consultant (Chemical Safety)

Location: US - MS - Delisle; site in Pass Christian, Mississippi

Salary: $97,843.00–$152,880.00 annually, plus an 8% annual bonus target

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership, problem-solving, training, and implementation support for workplace and process safety in high-hazard chemical operations.
• Develop, implement, and improve site-wide safety management systems, procedures, processes, and employee capabilities.
• Conduct and support first- and second-party workplace safety and Process Safety Management audits.
• Participate in and facilitate incident investigations and serve as a technical resource for site employees, leadership, corporate resources, and regulatory agencies.
• Own safety standards for Lock, Tag, and Try; confined space entry; line and equipment break; fall protection; ladder and scaffold safety; and related workplace safety elements.
• Lead the Safe Work Practices element of the Process Safety Management program and participate in the Site Safety Committee.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in a safety-related field, or a bachelor's degree in EHS, safety sciences, industrial hygiene, safety engineering, or another engineering discipline.
• Extensive knowledge of OSHA General Industry, recordkeeping, and Process Safety Management requirements.
• Experience interpreting regulations, assessing compliance risks, developing compliant safety systems, and supporting PSM programs.
• Knowledge of high-hazard chemical or process-safety-managed facilities.
• Excellent Microsoft Office, oral communication, and written communication skills.
• Ability to lead through influence, build credibility, and drive safety performance without direct supervisory authority.

Nice to have

• 5+ years of high-hazard chemical process experience.
• Certified Safety Professional certification or the ability to obtain it within two years of starting.
