TL;DR
Senior Staff Electrical Engineer - Payload (Ka-band AESA): Leading the end-to-end development, integration, qualification, and production transition of spaceborne phased-array payloads combining Ka-band AESA and processing units with an accent on RF electronics, payload architecture, and environmental testing. Focus on coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams, solving technical risks and anomalies, and delivering flight-ready hardware on schedule.

Location: Westminster, Colorado, United States; on-site. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, conditional residents, asylees, refugees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Develops communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms.

What you will do

  • Lead payload architecture, design, prototyping, integration, testing, environmental qualification, and flight readiness.
  • Direct Unit Leads and multidisciplinary engineers developing AESA and RPU hardware.
  • Define payload control schemes, internal data interfaces, command and telemetry architecture, and firmware/software integration.
  • Manage qualification activities, including thermal vacuum, vibration, shock, EMC, margin assessment, and acceptance testing.
  • Own the transition to volume production, including manufacturability, testability, and customer-facing documentation.
  • Drive requirements, verification, design reviews, risk mitigation, anomaly resolution, and communication with customers and cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 12+ years of experience in electronics hardware development.
  • Hands-on experience with active phased-array antennas and expertise in antennas and board-level RF electronics.
  • Strong familiarity with power and digital support circuitry, design for manufacturability, and systems engineering practices.
  • Experience leading or mentoring multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Must meet U.S. space technology export-control eligibility requirements or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations.

Nice to have

  • Experience leading flight qualification and environmental test campaigns, including TVAC, vibration/shock, EMC, and radiation considerations.
  • Experience testing active antennas and measuring EIRP and G/T.
  • Experience with radiation-tolerant design, Ka-band antenna design, and hardware/software product development.
  • Experience with high-rate manufacturing, rapid development cycles, NewSpace, or flight-hardware leadership roles.
