Team Lead, Excess & Surplus (E&S) & Crisis Management OPS

Location: Windsor, CT, US or Alpharetta, GA, US. Hybrid work is required with at least three days in the office each week; full-time onsite work is also available. The role is not eligible for full-time telework.

Base salary: $76,000–$114,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop Underwriting Assistants and Operations professionals.
• Manage workloads, staffing, performance, succession planning, and cross-training.
• Oversee policy lifecycle activities, including binders, endorsements, renewals, cancellations, invoicing, and policy issuance.
• Monitor service levels, productivity, quality, and operational KPIs while driving process standardization and improvement.
• Partner with underwriters, brokers, claims, finance, legal, and compliance stakeholders to support portfolio growth.
• Lead technology implementation, automation, AI adoption, change management, and future-state operating model initiatives.

Requirements

• 5+ years of insurance operations, underwriting support, or commercial insurance experience.
• Strong understanding of policy administration, compliance requirements, service operations, and underwriting authority guidelines.
• Experience leading change and process improvement initiatives.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, coaching, and team leadership skills.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Ability to work in the Windsor or Alpharetta office at least three days per week; relocation assistance and visa sponsorship are not available.

Nice to have

• Prior people leadership experience.
• Knowledge of E&S, Crisis Management, Commercial Property, Casualty, or Specialty operations.
