TL;DR
Engineer, Structures (Aerospace): Ensuring aircraft structural integrity, safety, and airworthiness through structural analysis, repair design, maintenance support, and regulatory documentation with an accent on aircraft modifications, repairs, and continued airworthiness. Focus on coordinating with OEMs, STC holders, DER teams, suppliers, and maintenance teams while solving structural issues and supporting compliance with FAA requirements.

Location: Carmel, United States; work includes aircraft hangar and maintenance environments.

What you will do

  • Design, analyze, and support repairs, modifications, inspections, and upgrades for aircraft structures.
  • Collaborate with OEMs, STC holders, DER teams, suppliers, and maintenance teams to diagnose structural issues and implement compliant repair solutions.
  • Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, repair documents, and technical documentation.
  • Develop structural inspection and repair work cards and maintain accurate repair records for continued airworthiness and aging-aircraft analysis.
  • Provide technical expertise during aircraft inspections, maintenance checks, and structural incident investigations.
  • Prepare regulatory submissions and internal reports while monitoring developments in structural engineering and aviation regulations.

Requirements

  • FAA Mechanic Certificate with an Airframe & Powerplant rating or a foreign equivalent.
  • Associate’s degree in Aviation or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 3 years of related engineering and/or aircraft maintenance experience.
  • Thorough working knowledge of applicable 14 CFR maintenance and airworthiness requirements, including Parts 1, 21, 23, 25, 43, 45, 47, 65, 91, and 121, plus manuals required by Parts 121 and 133.
  • Ability to interpret technical procedures and regulations, prepare reports and manuals, and present information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aviation or a related discipline.
  • Six Sigma or Lean Processes certification.
