TL;DR
Designer III (Aircraft Structures): Creating certified repair solutions and technical documentation for metallic and non-metallic aircraft structures with an accent on airworthiness, structural design, and collaboration with stress and fatigue specialists. Focus on interpreting aircraft damage reports, developing complex repair designs, and delivering solutions that return aircraft to an airworthy condition.

Location: On-site in Wichita, Kansas, United States. The role includes approximately 5% domestic and international travel.

What you will do

  • Create certified engineering repair solutions for airline and internal customers.
  • Review aircraft structure damage reports and develop or modify complex repair designs for metallic and non-metallic parts.
  • Produce technical communications, dispositions, repair instructions, and repair drawings using hirify.global applications.
  • Collaborate with Static Stress, F&DT, and other engineering departments to develop airworthy repair solutions.
  • Respond to repair queries, communicate technical status, and work toward obtaining technical signatory authorization.
  • Support improvements to processes, methods, tools, and team efficiency.

Requirements

  • Associate of Science degree in Engineering Technology with emphasis on structural design, mechanics of materials, or system design.
  • At least eight years of design experience with airframe structures.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States is required; visa sponsorship is not available unless specifically stated.
  • Knowledge of repair and maintenance documentation and procedures, including SRM, NTM, and IPC.
  • Experience with CATIA V5 and/or 3DExperience, Microsoft Excel, and Google Suite applications.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction and create technical documents and presentations.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Physics, or Mathematics.
  • Experience with composite airframe structures, MRO or fleet engineering, and MRB activities.
  • Knowledge of hirify.global structures and maintenance repair shop practices.
  • Conversational French and/or German.
