TL;DR
Manufacturing Engineer II (Structures) (Aerospace Manufacturing): Owning manufacturing processes for composite structures, machined metallic components, and bonded assemblies for reentry capsules and spacecraft with an accent on process discipline, structural assembly, and production scaling. Focus on developing manufacturing documentation, improving tooling and product flow, and solving structural build defects through root cause corrective action.

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States

Salary: $119,543–$152,749 per year for Engineer II; incentives may include stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

Company

hirify.global develops commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing systems, reentry capsules, heat shields, and satellite buses. Its vehicles, equipment, and materials are built, integrated, and tested at the El Segundo production facility.

What you will do

  • Own manufacturing processes for composite structures, machined metallic components, and bonded assemblies.
  • Develop and maintain work instructions, process specifications, and manufacturing travelers for structural build operations.
  • Provide design-for-manufacturing feedback on composite parts, tooling accessibility, bond joints, and fastener patterns.
  • Implement cleanliness, foreign object debris prevention, and contamination-control procedures.
  • Lead non-conformance investigations and root-cause corrective actions for structural defects, dimensional discrepancies, tolerance stackups, and coating issues.
  • Define production tooling and improve floor layouts, product flow, and incoming material inspection requirements.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 3 years of manufacturing experience with structural assemblies, machined metals, composites, bonded structures, riveted structures, or welded structures.
  • Hands-on experience assembling or fabricating structural hardware using welding, adhesive bonding, or riveting.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T callouts, and structural assembly models, and experience maintaining manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including diagnosing structural build defects and driving corrective actions to closure.
  • Must be physically able to lift 25 pounds regularly, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods.

Nice to have

  • M.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Materials Science, Structural Analysis, or a related discipline.
  • Experience manufacturing primary flight structures for launch vehicles, satellites, or reentry systems and transitioning assemblies from prototype to rate production.
  • Knowledge of aerospace structural materials, dynamic and vibrational loads, tooling qualification, FAI, and FAIR documentation.
  • Experience with CATIA, SolidWorks, or NX for tooling design and assembly model review.
  • Experience at a new-space company or defense prime with an actively increasing structural production cadence.

Culture & Benefits

  • Regular full-time employment with flexible paid time off and 12 paid holidays.
  • Company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance with FSA and employer-matched HSA options.
  • Parental leave, family-building support, wellness reimbursement, and sponsored One Medical memberships.
  • 401(k) plan with a 6% immediately vested employer match and incentive equity.
  • Relocation support may be available for new hires, with on-site work at the El Segundo production facility.
  • Daily lunch, twice-weekly dinner, team events, and complimentary EV charging.

Hiring process

  • Leveling is determined based on candidate experience, with the role open at Engineer II and Senior levels.
  • Employment requires U.S. work authorization and eligibility as a U.S. person for access to export-controlled technology.
