System Architect (Machine Controls)

Location: Hyvinkää, Finland. Occasional travel of 10–25 days per year is required for cross-site collaboration and customer engagements.

What you will do

• Define and guide machine control system architecture from high-level system views through component-level details.
• Coordinate cross-functional technical efforts and system-level alignment across the corporation.
• Maintain technical specifications, interface principles, data models, reference architectures, and architectural descriptions.
• Ensure system coherence, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and system-level testing for features, connectivity, and cybersecurity.
• Develop future-state visions and mid-term roadmaps for intelligent equipment, Industry 4.0, M2M communication, and connected services.
• Provide architectural cybersecurity expertise and Tier 4 support for complex system-level issues.

Requirements

• Relevant B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Software Engineering, Control Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related field.
• At least 7 years of experience in machine control system architecture, industrial automation, or embedded systems.
• Experience translating business and technical requirements into system-level architectures and quality assurance processes.
• Strong understanding of OT environments, industrial equipment, machine control systems, safety-related functions, field networks, and lifecycle support.
• Strong knowledge of PLC systems, embedded platforms, and bus technologies such as Profinet and CANopen.
• Experience with OT cybersecurity frameworks such as IEC 62443, system-level documentation, customer-site deployment and troubleshooting, and fluent written and spoken English.

Nice to have

• Experience with Agile development, zone architectures, Linux-based embedded systems, cloud data architectures, and functional safety standards such as IEC 61508 and ISO 13849.
• Programming experience in C/C++ or PLC programming languages.
• Finnish or German language skills.
• A proactive approach to learning and adopting new technologies.
