Software Engineering Director (iGaming)

What you will do

• Lead multiple engineering teams in the Customer Product Engineering domain and set technical direction across payments, account onboarding, geolocation, responsible gaming, player integrity, promotions, rewards, and customer messaging.
• Own customer outcomes including registration and verification completion, time to first bet, deposit and withdrawal success, payout speed, geolocation pass rates, and end-to-end journey availability.
• Prepare systems for event-driven peak loads through capacity planning, failover testing, graceful degradation, and operational rehearsals.
• Reduce the impact of failures from payment, identity, KYC, and geolocation providers through redundancy, fallbacks, and clear operational practices.
• Partner with Product, Compliance, Risk, Finance, Legal, and Customer Operations to design auditable, jurisdiction-aware solutions.
• Develop managers and senior engineers, oversee hiring and performance, manage budgets, and improve production support, incident response, and long-term platform strategy.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software experience and 5+ years leading engineering teams, including experience managing other managers.
• Experience delivering and operating high-volume transactional systems where correctness, money, and customer trust are critical.
• Experience with highly available, fault-tolerant systems under extreme event-driven peak loads and with production on-call support.
• Strong background in modern back-end languages including Java, cloud infrastructure preferably AWS, containers, orchestration, observability, and engineering KPIs.
• Experience working with third-party payment, identity, KYC, or geolocation providers and in regulated environments requiring auditability, evidence, and data boundaries.
• Experience defining technical strategy, software delivery practices, agile methods, and AI-assisted software development in a regulated context.
