Sr. Engineering Manager, Precompute (Distributed Systems/Data Platform): Owning and scaling a precompute layer that integrates precomputed and real-time financial analytics for sub-second query performance, with an accent on incremental computation, vectorised processing, and enterprise-scale concurrency. Focus on building multi-region architecture, moving factor calculations into a columnar engine, and improving data governance for precompute artifacts.
Location: Edinburgh, UK. Applicants must have and maintain the right to work in the United Kingdom from the first day of employment.

What you will do
- Own the precompute platform roadmap with Product and Engineering leadership, including performance KPIs for daily processing, incremental processing, and query latency.
- Architect, implement, and maintain engineering solutions for sophisticated data platform and performance challenges.
- Integrate the precompute layer with core compute infrastructure and increase the share of query traffic it serves.
- Build repeatable architecture for global, multi-region deployment and continued regional support.
- Drive vectorisation of factor calculations by moving compute-intensive workloads into the columnar engine.
- Improve operational efficiency and integrate Data Publisher Responsibilities and Data Health indicators into precompute workflows.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or a similar quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Extensive software engineering or data platform experience, including performance engineering for large-scale, high-concurrency systems.
- Hands-on engineering leadership experience with vector-based data processing.
- Experience leading global, distributed engineering teams through production system transformation.
- Strong cloud data infrastructure experience with AWS, Databricks, and Kubernetes.
- Existing UK work authorization is required; visa sponsorship is not available.
Nice to have
- Finance or wealth management domain knowledge.
- Experience with data governance, publisher responsibilities, and data health indicators.
