Staff Software Engineer (m/f/d) Data

Location: Berlin, Germany; 80% office presence and 20% mobile working

What you will do

• Design, develop, and operate large-scale distributed data systems for media and advertising products.
• Own systems across architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, operations, and continuous evolution.
• Define data models, pipelines, and APIs that provide reliable, high-quality data delivery.
• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and product teams to improve platforms and introduce new solutions.
• Optimize platform performance and contribute to technical excellence, mentoring, and engineering standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent expertise.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering complex, high-impact systems at scale.
• Deep proficiency in at least two modern programming languages and ecosystems.
• Experience designing and operating distributed systems, large-scale microservices, and cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience with resilient data or application platforms, including event-driven, real-time, or multi-region systems.
• Strong knowledge of systems design, data modeling, schema evolution, data versioning, query optimization, observability, and reliability engineering.
