Head of Data & Simulation (AI-based Autonomy Hub)

What you will do

• Lead the Data & Simulation engineering unit with full personnel responsibility while remaining technically involved.
• Acquire internal and external data sources, negotiate access, and build pipelines that turn recordings into usable datasets.
• Develop a reproducible and deterministic simulation framework for synthetic data generation and validation.
• Train learned environment and world models and recalibrate them using real flight recordings.
• Own data ingestion, pipelines, labeling, cataloging, lifecycle management, access, and confidentiality governance.
• Build the interdisciplinary team and align priorities with Machine Learning, Full Stack, Platform, DevOps, DroneOps, and Flight Test.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Several years of technical team leadership experience, ideally including leadership through a team lead.
• Strong background in data-intensive development, simulation, or the interface between both.
• Proven experience obtaining data, negotiating access, and developing data pipelines.
• Hands-on engineering skills and sufficient understanding of simulation and learned models to define direction and quality gates.
• Fluent German and English are required.
