Engineer - Data & Platforms (AI)

Location: Berlin HQ, Germany; full-time permanent position based at the office

What you will do

• Build and improve internal data products, including pipelines, datasets, APIs, and tooling for investment and research teams.
• Design, build, and operate reliable ETL pipelines and integrations for complex financial and alternative datasets.
• Work directly with internal users to prioritise requests, protect product integrity, and explain technical trade-offs clearly.
• Strengthen automated testing, CI/CD, pull requests, code review, and technical documentation.
• Improve observability, monitoring, data quality, and secure data handling.
• Use agentic AI for coding, review, testing, debugging, and documentation.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of professional software or data engineering experience building and operating production systems.
• Strong Python and SQL skills, with clean code and a solid understanding of data modelling.
• Experience with unit, integration, and data-quality testing, CI/CD, pull requests, and code review.
• Clear communication with non-engineering stakeholders and the ability to explain trade-offs constructively.
• Hands-on use of AI coding systems such as Claude Code or Codex as a core part of engineering work.
• Genuine interest in investing, financial markets, and data.

Nice to have

• Databricks or PySpark experience.
• Experience with Airflow, Dagster, Parquet, Delta, Iceberg, or AWS data-platform tooling.
• Experience with investment, financial, or market data.
• Experience building internal web frontends or APIs and deploying LLM systems in production.
