Senior Software Engineer (Data) - Data Foundations

Location: Hamburg, Germany

Salary: €70,000–€85,000 yearly

What you will do

• Build, maintain, and drive the transition to a modern data platform based on Dagster, dbt, AWS ECS, and BigQuery.
• Develop custom tooling for monitoring, data checks, connectors, cost control, testing, CI/CD, and data cataloging.
• Maintain and optimize the company’s largest and most fundamental ELT pipelines.
• Own critical reports that support executive board decisions and other departmental data teams.
• Improve the efficiency and reliability of data teams through platform foundations and pragmatic engineering decisions.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience in data engineering or software engineering, especially with high-volume, business-critical pipelines.
• Experience building and maintaining modern data platforms; equivalent tools and setups are accepted.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including CI/CD, testing, best practices, and design patterns applied to data engineering.
• Expert-level SQL and Python skills.
• Knowledge of infrastructure setups such as Docker and Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Fluent English communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
