Digital and Interactive Developer (Geospatial)

Location: Fully remote, but candidates must reside within the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or lawfully reside in the U.S. with U.S. work authorization. Non-U.S. citizens must have resided continuously in the U.S. for the past two years.

Salary: $80,000–$125,000 per year

What you will do

• Execute social media strategies, including editorial planning, campaigns, publishing, monitoring, engagement, and measurement.
• Create newsletters, announcements, web stories, presentations, graphics, infographics, short-form videos, and other multimedia content.
• Translate complex EPIC/UFS science and technology into clear, accurate, audience-appropriate communications.
• Maintain consistent EPIC, UFS, and NOAA branding and editorial quality across deliverables.
• Support education, outreach, events, software releases, technical milestones, and community opportunities.
• Manage stakeholder engagement workflows, feedback, action tracking, approvals, reporting, and quality control.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in communications or an equivalent communications role.
• Experience creating and publishing multimedia content for web and social media platforms.
• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.
• Experience developing digital communication campaigns and using analytics, user feedback, and market research to optimize content.
• Ability to translate complex technical, policy, or scientific information for diverse audiences and collaborate with subject-matter experts and external stakeholders.
• U.S. work authorization and residence in the Washington, DC metropolitan area are required. Candidates must pass a Department of Commerce NACI background investigation, including fingerprinting.

Nice to have

• Active NOAA CAC badge.
• Experience with project management tools, Google Analytics, Figma, Webflow, Storyline, Tableau, or Power BI.
• R, GIS fundamentals, or experience building charts, maps, and interactive data stories.
• Environmental, climate, sustainability, public-sector, or public-risk communications knowledge.
