TL;DR
Payroll Specialist (European Retail): Managing end-to-end monthly payroll for assigned markets in an international retail environment with an accent on payroll accuracy, statutory compliance, reconciliations, and stakeholder coordination. Focus on analysing payroll variations, improving scalable payroll workflows, supporting audits, and resolving complex payroll questions across HR, Finance, Operations, providers, and tax authorities.
Location: Amsterdam HQ, Netherlands; flexible hybrid work environment, with the ability to work from or commute to the Amsterdam HQ. The role is for 32–40 hours per week and is expected to start in January 2027.
Salary: €50,000–€60,000 gross per year based on full-time employment, including 8% holiday allowance.

What you will do
- Own the end-to-end monthly payroll process for assigned markets, from collecting store and HR inputs through vendor preparation and payroll output checks.
- Analyse payroll variations and investigate discrepancies to ensure accurate and timely processing.
- Complete payroll closing activities, including reconciliations, journal creation, pension registrations, and related checks.
- Ensure compliance with local payroll legislation, Collective Labour Agreements, and other relevant regulations.
- Act as a point of contact for employees, store managers, external payroll providers, and tax authorities.
- Drive payroll process improvements, contribute to strategic projects, and support Finance during annual audits.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of hands-on payroll experience, preferably in an international or multi-country European environment.
- Relevant education in HR, Finance, or Payroll; a PDL qualification is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, solution-oriented problem solving, independence, and resilience under deadline pressure.
- Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills across HR, Finance, store operations, and external providers.
- Strong Excel and Google Sheets skills, with experience using HRIS and payroll systems.
- Ability to work from or commute to the Amsterdam HQ.
Nice to have
- Experience in an international or multi-country European payroll environment.
- PDL (Praktijkdiploma Loonadministratie) qualification.
