Equipment Development Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Manchester, United Kingdom; permanent right to work in the UK required; visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: £45,000–£60,000 per year, depending on experience; bonus up to 6%.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership for the Quality Lab Engineering team.
• Lead the development, integration, optimisation, and continuous improvement of laboratory equipment and test capabilities.
• Drive improvements in equipment reliability, utilisation, productivity, cost, and performance.
• Lead complex technical investigations and root cause analysis activities.
• Define engineering standards, best practices, and technical strategy.
• Collaborate with Quality, Reliability, Manufacturing, and Product Engineering stakeholders while mentoring engineers.

Requirements

• Degree in Electronic, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• Experience leading or contributing to complex engineering projects and equipment integrations.
• Experience with automated equipment, instrumentation, and control systems.
• Permanent right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience in semiconductor test, characterisation, reliability, or advanced manufacturing.
• Experience coaching or mentoring engineers.
• Chartered Engineer status or progress toward it.
• Experience developing custom hardware or software solutions.
• Experience with equipment safety systems, risk assessments, or technical and organisational change.
