What you will do

  • Provide health, safety, quality assurance, and environmental advice for a major nuclear-site demolition project.
  • Identify and reduce risks across high-hazard work scopes, facilitate risk assessment workshops, and maintain the project risk register and construction phase plan.
  • Complete HSE audits, inspections, task analyses, and reviews of risk assessments, method statements, task briefings, and HSEQ documentation.
  • Coordinate with the client project team, station operations, regulatory bodies, site teams, and other stakeholders to meet safety and licence-holder requirements.
  • Track HSQE KPIs, prepare performance reports, close findings within required timescales, and share lessons learned.
  • Lead Level 2 investigations, deliver workforce briefings and training, promote occupational health and wellbeing, and deputise for the Lead HSQE Manager when required.

Requirements

  • NEBOSH Diploma Level 6 or equivalent, IOSH Chartered Membership, a valid driving licence, and a CSCS Health and Safety Managers Card.
  • At least five years of experience in heavy construction and/or demolition, including major projects and at least three years with a Tier 1 contractor.
  • Experience in accident investigation, proactive health and safety management, performance improvement, site inspections, and risk assessment.
  • Excellent understanding of CDM 2015 and related HSE legislation, with the ability to ensure compliance with standards and client requirements.
  • Strong communication, relationship management, leadership, time management, problem-solving, and written and numerical literacy skills.
  • Ability to use Microsoft 365 and HSQE-specific systems.

Nice to have

  • IEMA Practitioner membership or equivalent, particularly where environmental responsibilities are included.
  • Experience with nuclear licensed facilities, radiological protection, asbestos, lifting operations, confined spaces, emergency planning, COSHH, or behavioural safety.
  • Formal accident investigation, leadership, management, or supervisor training.
  • Experience developing management systems, sustainability and carbon reduction initiatives, or Bowtie Risk Analysis.
