BI Consultant Back-End & Semantic Modelling (AI)

Location: Porto Salvo and Lisbon, Portugal; hybrid working model.

What you will do

• Translate business and data requirements into data integration, back-end, and semantic modelling solutions.
• Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines, data transformations, and curated data layers.
• Build and evolve dimensional and semantic models with relationships, hierarchies, measures, and reusable business definitions.
• Prepare data for AI applications through consistent terminology, metadata, governance, and data lineage.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, data engineers, data scientists, and front-end developers.
• Support data quality, performance optimization, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement across the project lifecycle.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data, Business Intelligence, or a related field.
• Typically 3+ years of relevant experience in BI, data engineering, analytics engineering, or a similar back-end role.
• Strong SQL, ETL/ELT, and data integration skills.
• Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, Informatica Cloud, or SSIS.
• Understanding of data warehousing, dimensional modelling, Kimball principles, and semantic modelling for BI and analytics.
• Professional proficiency in English and ability to work in Portugal under a hybrid arrangement.

Nice to have

• Experience in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, or life sciences.
• Experience with Power BI semantic models, Analysis Services, dbt Semantic Layer, AtScale, Power BI, Qlik Sense, or QlikView.
• Knowledge of metadata, data catalogues, lineage, governance, knowledge graphs, or life sciences platforms such as Veeva.
• Experience with LLMs, RAG, vector search, cloud data architectures, Agile, version control, or CI/CD.
