Head of Customs, AUS & NZ

What you will do

• Lead customs operations and trade compliance activities across Australia and New Zealand within the APAC customs organization.
• Develop and maintain import and export controls, licenses, permits, certifications, guidelines, and governance processes.
• Identify customs risks, manage internal and external audits, maintain compliance records, and oversee corrective actions.
• Manage customs brokers, implement standard operating procedures, and optimize customs processes using IT systems and automation.
• Advise procurement, logistics, sales, and other internal stakeholders on customs matters and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies.
• Coach customs professionals and contribute to regional and global customs projects and best-practice initiatives.

Requirements

• Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) certification.
• Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Law, Supply Chain, or a related field focused on foreign trade and customs.
• Extensive experience in international trade compliance and customs management, preferably in a complex matrix organization.
• Experience managing large compliance projects or processes independently as a subject matter expert.
• Knowledge of rules of origin, product classification, internal controls, trade compliance reporting, customs governance, and regulations.
• Skills in process improvement, program management, workflow management, strategic thinking, analysis, influencing, and collaboration.
