Upstream Team Lead (Biopharma Manufacturing)

Location: Visp, Switzerland; fully site-based with in-person work required. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates and their families.

What you will do

• Lead the planning, execution, and documentation of upstream manufacturing campaigns.
• Provide technical leadership for mammalian cell culture manufacturing and serve as the primary USP escalation point.
• Support technology transfers, process validation, process monitoring, lifecycle management, commissioning, qualification, and start-up activities.
• Ensure manufacturing complies with cGMP requirements, approved procedures, and safety and quality standards.
• Lead risk assessments, customer audits, inspections, continuous improvement, and operational excellence initiatives.
• Manage, coach, develop, and allocate Bioprocess Engineers while partnering with USP Shift Team Leads and the Head USP.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in biotechnology, biopharmaceutical manufacturing, process engineering, or USP operations.
• Strong expertise in mammalian cell culture and GMP-regulated manufacturing environments.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
• Fluent English is required.
• Previous leadership and people-management experience is preferred.
