FinOps Analyst

What you will do

• Analyze cloud spend across Azure, AWS, IBM Cloud, and other providers, reconciling billing, usage, pricing, credits, and allocation data.
• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and recurring reports covering budgets, forecasts, cost drivers, unit economics, allocation, commitment utilization, and savings.
• Write and optimize SQL queries for extracting, transforming, validating, and reconciling large cloud cost and usage datasets.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, anomaly investigation, and financial risk communication.
• Evaluate reservations, savings plans, and committed-use discounts, including coverage, utilization, break-even points, renewals, and purchase recommendations.
• Identify and track cost optimization opportunities, improve showback or chargeback allocation, and coordinate FinOps projects through benefits validation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, data analytics, computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in FinOps, cloud cost management, financial analysis, business intelligence, data analytics, cloud operations, or a related discipline.
• Hands-on experience analyzing cloud billing and usage data, with knowledge of Azure, AWS, and IBM Cloud cost-management concepts.
• Strong Power BI skills, including data modeling, DAX, Power Query, dashboard design, scheduled refreshes, and data quality controls.
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with large financial, operational, or cloud usage datasets.
• Experience with cloud budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, cost allocation, anomaly management, commitment discounts, and realized versus projected savings.

Nice to have

• FinOps Certified Practitioner certification or equivalent cloud financial management training.
• Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Associate, AWS, Azure, or IBM Cloud certification.
• Experience with the FinOps Framework, FOCUS-aligned cost data, unit economics, showback or chargeback, and tagging governance.
• Experience automating data ingestion, reporting, or cost controls with APIs, Python, PowerShell, or cloud-native tooling.
• Experience in a SaaS or large-scale technology environment and familiarity with AI concepts, prompting, or agentic AI systems.
