Senior Data Centre Technician (Data Centre Operations)

Location: Maroochydore, Queensland, Australia; on-site work at Sunshine Coast data centre facilities with participation in an on-call roster.

What you will do

• Support the Facility Manager with day-to-day data centre operations, technical maintenance, and customer service.
• Ensure safe, secure, and reliable operation of critical facility systems, including power, cooling, security, and environmental monitoring.
• Perform HV switching as directed and coordinate customer provisioning, equipment installation, cabling, and rack-related activities.
• Manage contractors, workloads, staffing resources, and operational SLAs.
• Act as the facility SME for communications infrastructure, cabling, power monitoring, rack locking, and environmental monitoring.
• Lead training, provide technical guidance, prepare operational reports, escalate incidents, and drive process improvements.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in a similar role within a critical facility or data centre.
• Experience with data centre operations, rack management, IT equipment installation, power and cooling systems, structured cabling, and cable management.
• Electrical or telecommunications qualifications with relevant hands-on experience.
• Experience leading a team or working in a team lead capacity.
• Strong customer service, planning, organisation, problem-solving, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to participate in an on-call roster.

Nice to have

• Certificate III in Telecommunications.
• HV switching certification.
• Familiarity with building management and monitoring systems.
• Basic understanding of the ITIL framework.
• Interest in high-density power systems and advanced cooling technologies.
