Technical Specialist Transmission Core (DWDM)

Location: 100% onsite at Macquarie Park, Sydney, Australia. Work involves a rotating 24x7 roster covering morning, afternoon, and night shifts.

What you will do

• Provide Tier 2 technical support to maintain network availability and resolve complex incidents escalated by Managed Services.
• Contribute to problem management, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and critical incident escalations.
• Plan and execute network changes, expansions, and upgrades while meeting quality and performance policies.
• Recommend network design improvements and support continuous operational improvement with Engineering, Vendors, and Managed Services.
• Contribute operational insights to tools strategy, automation, alarm filtering, correlation analysis, service assurance, and KPI/SLA reporting.
• Mentor less experienced colleagues and support knowledge sharing and training initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related Science discipline.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience with multi-vendor Metro/Long-Haul DWDM networks.
• Strong understanding of DWDM technologies, including ROADM, TOADM, and optical amplifiers.
• Knowledge of SyncE and PTP protocols.
• Experience supporting network technologies and vendors in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, investigation, and escalation skills.
