Network Engineer (Telecommunications)

Location: Moorooka, Queensland, Australia; Brisbane and surrounding areas with travel across exchanges, data centres, CEV, FAN, HUB, mobile and customer sites

What you will do

• Maintain switching, transmission, HVAC, power and enhanced service platform infrastructure.
• Respond onsite to critical incidents and restore network services within required timeframes.
• Monitor and inspect DC power systems, rectifiers, batteries, PDUs, UPS systems, generators, HVAC, fire panels and related facility equipment.
• Commission equipment, conduct site acceptance and quality audits, and support equipment deployment at exchange sites.
• Identify, document and escalate network and facility issues while coordinating with technical teams, vendors and contractors.
• Supervise onsite contractors, support safe operations and coach new field engineer cadets.

Requirements

• Technical qualification in telecommunications engineering, electrical engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Approximately five years of experience with fixed transmission networks and strong knowledge of network design and technologies.
• Understanding of transmission and digital systems, switching, consumer products, mobile systems, 5G and edge technology.
• Knowledge of critical infrastructure, including DC systems, batteries, UPS systems, fire panels, HVAC, grounding and DC cabling.
• Current driver licence and ability to travel between infrastructure locations required.
• Availability for 24/7 shift work, on-call or recall arrangements, and out-of-hours critical incident response required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Office 365, Helix, SAP, NSM, Tableau, VMR or ServiceNow.
• Engineering degree in telecommunications, IT, OSS or media.
• Experience in an exchange, data centre or other critical infrastructure environment.
