Principal Automation Engineer (AI)

Location: Onsite in Danvers, Massachusetts, United States; approximately 10–15% travel to North Haven, Connecticut, and other East Region manufacturing sites.

Salary: $122,400–$183,600 per year.

What you will do

• Serve as the primary Operations & Innovation Automation Engineering representative for the Danvers manufacturing site.
• Lead automation and machine vision initiatives, including equipment qualification, performance optimization, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
• Support automated manufacturing systems through root cause analysis, corrective actions, and reliability improvements.
• Develop and maintain the site automation roadmap and project pipeline.
• Identify, evaluate, and implement emerging automation technologies to improve manufacturing performance and scalability.
• Partner with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Research & Development, site leadership, and regional automation teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Controls Engineering.
• 7+ years of experience with manufacturing automation, controls, robotics, machine vision, industrial equipment, or automated manufacturing processes.
• Experience leading technical projects and troubleshooting complex manufacturing equipment.
• Experience with equipment qualification, validation, and change control, including IQ, OQ, and PQ.
• Ability to ensure compliance with quality, validation, safety, and regulatory requirements in a regulated manufacturing environment.
• U.S. work authorization is required; sponsorship is offered for Principal-level roles and above.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or higher in Engineering, Automation, Controls Engineering, Computer Vision, Data Science, or Artificial Intelligence.
• Experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, or other regulated manufacturing.
• Experience with automated assembly equipment, robotics, motion control, machine vision, PLC, and HMI platforms.
• Experience implementing advanced inspection, industrial vision, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or data-driven manufacturing solutions.
