Specialist, FPGA Firmware Engineering (FPGA): Designing and verifying mission-focused FPGA firmware on AMD Xilinx platforms with an accent on RTL development, timing closure, verification, and hardware bring-up. Focus on resolving setup and hold violations, debugging hardware and firmware integration issues, and delivering reliable embedded capabilities across the full firmware lifecycle.

Location: Palm Bay, Florida, United States; onsite. Job schedule: 9/80. Travel up to 10% annually.

Company

hirify.global develops defense technology and end-to-end solutions connecting space, air, land, sea, and cyber domains for national security missions.

What you will do

  • Design, implement, and verify FPGA logic using VHDL, Verilog, and SystemVerilog on AMD Xilinx devices, including Zynq UltraScale+, Kintex, and Versal families.
  • Create routing and timing constraints in XDC and close timing across process, voltage, and temperature corners.
  • Support board-level bring-up and laboratory debugging with Vivado, ILA, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
  • Own firmware activities from requirements decomposition and architecture through RTL implementation, simulation, synthesis, implementation, and release support.
  • Collaborate with systems, software, and test teams in Agile development, contributing to design reviews, documentation, risk communication, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Hands-on AMD Xilinx FPGA development experience using Vivado.
  • RTL design experience with VHDL or Verilog, including XDC constraints and timing closure.
  • Experience with simulation, verification workflows, and scripting in TCL and/or Python.
  • Experience with Linux-based development, version control, schematic reading, and hardware/software integration.
  • Strong laboratory debugging and root-cause analysis skills for hardware and firmware issues.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer, Electrical, or Software Engineering, or equivalent experience, with 4–7 years of relevant engineering experience. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.

Nice to have

  • Experience with high-speed interfaces and embedded processing subsystems on AMD Xilinx SoCs.
  • Knowledge of secure and reliable firmware practices for mission-critical systems.
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing, automation, production firmware updates, and sustainment.
  • Background in defense, aerospace, communications, or radar.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance with CI Poly.

Culture & Benefits

  • Inclusive and engaging environment focused on professional growth and work-life success.
  • Work in cross-functional teams delivering mission-critical embedded capabilities.
  • Equal opportunity workplace with background checks and pre-employment substance abuse testing where permitted by law.
  • Employment with a drug-free and E-Verify workplace.
