Focus on implementing modulation, synchronization, filtering, equalization, and error-correction algorithms in RTL while bringing up, qualifying, and integrating flight hardware.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States

Salary: $148,000–$222,000 USD annually

Company

hirify.global develops launch vehicles, including Terran R, and the avionics systems that connect and control the vehicle’s electrical systems.

What you will do

  • Analyze, design, and test custom FPGA firmware for the Terran R launch vehicle.
  • Own FPGA development across the lifecycle, from concept and board bring-up through verification, qualification, flight production, integration, and vehicle operations.
  • Implement DSP and digital communications algorithms in VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog.
  • Develop and integrate high-speed data converter interfaces and DSP pipelines.
  • Perform hardware validation, debugging, timing analysis, and data analysis.
  • Collaborate with avionics, propulsion, GNC, fluids, and stage engineering teams to support vehicle-level decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of FPGA development experience, including substantial DSP/SDR work on mission-critical systems such as launch vehicles, spacecraft, aircraft, or robotics.
  • Strong knowledge of digital communications theory, including modulation, matched filtering, synchronization, equalization, and forward error correction.
  • Proficiency in multirate signal processing, filter design, FFT-based processing, and fixed-point quantization analysis.
  • Experience with RTL design, verification, synthesis, timing analysis, hardware bring-up, and validation across the FPGA lifecycle.
  • Experience with JESD204B/C or similar high-speed data converter interfaces and familiarity with FPGA toolchains and SoC platforms from AMD Xilinx, Intel, or Microchip.

Nice to have

  • Experience with SDR platforms or frameworks such as USRP, RFSoC, or GNU Radio.
  • Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, or Python/NumPy for algorithm modeling.
  • Familiarity with RISC-V development toolchains and rigorous software development processes.

Culture & Benefits

  • High ownership and autonomy on avionics components that will fly.
  • Cross-functional collaboration across avionics design, manufacturing, testing, propulsion, GNC, fluids, and stage engineering.
  • Competitive salary and equity.
  • Generous paid time off and sick leave, parental leave, and an annual learning and development stipend.
