Senior Software Engineer (Embedded)

Location: Onsite in Ashburn, Virginia or Massachusetts, United States

What you will do

• Design, develop, and test embedded software for digital signal processing computer boards.
• Create and modify board support packages, device drivers, power-on firmware, BIOS/U-Boot, and built-in test software.
• Analyze requirements, develop design alternatives, and contribute to architecture, design, and code reviews.
• Develop test software and procedures, validate releases, and coordinate software releases.
• Prepare accurate user and design documentation, task breakdowns, and project estimates.
• Evaluate new technologies, improve development processes, and share embedded software knowledge.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent, with at least 5 years of experience.
• Strong C programming skills and experience with embedded software engineering processes and standards.
• Experience developing Linux and/or VxWorks device drivers.
• Experience with hardware design verification testing and firmware and/or BIOS development.
• Ability to read and understand IC datasheets and board schematics.
• Strong communication skills, accountability, quality focus, and ability to meet deadlines.

Nice to have

• Active secret clearance or ability to obtain secret clearance.
• Experience with Yocto Linux, Xilinx PetaLinux, Xilinx MPSoC, interrupts, and DMA.
• Experience with Git or SVN, JIRA, debugging tools, and software test methodologies.
• Knowledge of PCIe, PCI, FPGAs, I2C, Flash, Ethernet, and electronic diagnostic equipment.
• Project management experience.
