Confluent Senior Software Engineer II (Product Security Access Management)

Location: Remote within the United States; listed locations include Poughkeepsie, Lowell, Rochester, Tucson, Research Triangle Park, Armonk, Boston, Bellevue, Atlanta, Chantilly, San Jose, Dallas, Austin, San Francisco, Seattle, and Herndon.

Salary: $131,000–$245,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design and implement access-management primitives for users and service accounts.
• Build scalable authorization methods, including RBAC, ABAC, and other policy models.
• Drive projects independently from execution through production deployment, with a focus on quality and customer impact.
• Troubleshoot complex cross-cloud issues, perform root-cause analysis, and improve operations.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and security partners to deliver secure and frictionless access solutions.
• Write clean, documented, maintainable code aligned with security best practices.

Requirements

• Must be able to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
• Bachelor's degree required; a master's degree is preferred.
• 4+ years of relevant software, product, or security engineering experience.
• Strong distributed-systems design and development fundamentals, with experience operating large-scale cloud systems.
• Understanding of systems operations, including disks, networks, and operating systems.
• Proficiency in Java, Scala, C, C++, Go, or another statically typed language.

Nice to have

• Experience across frontend and backend stacks.
• Experience in security, identity, and access management.
• Knowledge of AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Interest in presenting at technology conferences or writing educational content about IAM and security.
