Software Engineer 3 (AI/ML/Cloud)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, United States; hybrid work with an average of two days per week from an HPE office

Salary: USD 120,500–243,000 annual base salary in California; variable incentives may also be offered.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate large-scale data pipelines processing network telemetry at cloud scale.
• Develop routing intelligence that detects, troubleshoots, predicts, and mitigates network issues in multi-tenant data center environments.
• Build scalable and highly available services for the Mist platform, covering data ingestion through analytics.
• Design cloud-native distributed systems focused on scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Collaborate on AI-powered networking solutions that improve operational efficiency and customer experience.
• Use AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot in day-to-day engineering work.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
• At least five years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience building cloud-native applications, processing large-scale data, and developing scalable distributed systems or cloud services.
• Experience with distributed streaming and data processing technologies such as Kafka, Apache Storm, or Apache Flink.
• Experience with distributed databases such as Cassandra, ArangoDB, Elasticsearch, or similar technologies.
• Strong object-oriented programming skills in C++, Java, or another modern language; proficiency in multiple languages such as Python, Go, Java, or C++; networking fundamentals; and routing protocols.
