Director, Package Development

Location: West Hollywood, California, United States; hybrid, with at least 60% of work required from the corporate office

Base salary: $135,000–$145,000 per year, plus eligibility for a discretionary bonus plan

What you will do

• Lead packaging development for color and skincare products from concept evaluation through sourcing, development, validation, commercialization, and production support.
• Assess packaging feasibility, including functionality, manufacturability, cost, tooling, timelines, technical risks, fit, finish, and global consistency.
• Source and develop stock and custom primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging; prepare supplier briefs, technical specifications, drawings, component submissions, and bills of materials.
• Manage artwork development, packaging testing, validation protocols, compatibility, transit, drop, and performance testing.
• Partner with Product Development, Quality, Operations, contract manufacturers, and production teams to resolve root causes, support line trials and pilot runs, and improve manufacturing efficiency.
• Lead and support the Packaging team while building strategic supplier relationships and researching sustainable materials, decoration techniques, innovative formats, and emerging technologies.

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of package development experience.
• BA/BS in Packaging Engineering, Business Administration, or an equivalent field.
• Strong knowledge of the prestige and luxury beauty market, packaging materials, manufacturing, decoration techniques, and packaging performance test methods.
• Understanding of packaging sustainability and global compliance.
• Technical competency in two- and three-dimensional geometric analysis, including component clearances, fit, and finish.
• Exceptional project management, analytical, problem-solving, communication, organizational, and business skills, with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and project management platforms.
