Director, R&D – Central Packaging E2E Execution (Packaging)

Location: Glenview R&D Center, Glenview, Illinois, United States

Salary: $190,300–$237,900 annual base salary, plus performance bonus and equity eligibility.

What you will do

• Lead the Complex Packaging Projects and Productivity teams across the packaging portfolio.
• Define portfolio strategy, prioritize resources, and manage complex projects from ideation through implementation.
• Own the Productivity pipeline and drive annual packaging cost savings.
• Establish technical standards, governance frameworks, stage-gate processes, and design-for-manufacturability practices.
• Partner with R&D, Operations, Procurement, Business Units, Packaging Innovation, suppliers, and senior leadership.
• Lead sustainability integration, supplier partnerships, organizational capability building, succession planning, and career development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; a master’s degree in Packaging Science/Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
• 15+ years of progressive R&D and commercialization experience in packaging, including materials, processes, and manufacturing.
• 7+ years leading technical teams, including experience managing managers and building multi-team organizations.
• Demonstrated success delivering complex cross-functional packaging projects and significant cost savings.
• Technical depth in packaging substrates, structural design, manufacturing processes, and supplier landscapes.
• Strong business acumen, executive communication, stakeholder management, organizational design, and leadership skills.
