Assistant Professor of Systems Engineering (Healthcare Systems Engineering)

What you will do

• Establish an independent, externally funded research program in healthcare systems engineering.
• Contribute to BS and MS Systems Engineering instruction and teach engineering courses as needed.
• Mentor undergraduate and graduate research projects and senior design projects.
• Collaborate with academic, healthcare, industry, and government partners on interdisciplinary research and applied projects.
• Support recruitment, curriculum development, accreditation, and School service.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related discipline by the appointment start date.
• Expertise in healthcare systems engineering demonstrated through research, scholarship, professional experience, or a combination of these.
• Ability to contribute to undergraduate and graduate Systems Engineering instruction and mentor student research.
• Potential to establish an independent, externally funded research program.
• Ability to attend regularly and participate in face-to-face work on campus.

Nice to have

• Experience with operations research and optimization, modeling and simulation, human factors and ergonomics, patient safety and quality, AI-assisted decision support, human-AI systems, analytics, biomarker discovery, healthcare resilience, or reliability.
• Experience pursuing external research funding and collaborating with healthcare organizations or across disciplines.
