Instructor or Assistant Professor of English (Fiction, Creative Writing)

Location: Victoria, Texas; consistent campus presence and regular on-campus office hours required

What you will do

• Teach undergraduate fiction workshops, composition, professional writing, and other English courses aligned with program needs.
• Provide student-centered instruction, office hours, and support for undergraduate writers.
• Participate in course and program development, with possible contributions to literature courses and the MFA program.
• Maintain an active agenda of scholarly, creative, and/or professional activity.
• Perform college and professional service and collaborate with students, faculty, and staff.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree in English, creative writing, or a related field by August 15, 2027 for the Assistant Professor appointment.
• MFA in English, creative writing, or a related field by August 15, 2027 for the Instructor appointment.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching and evidence of scholarly, creative, and professional activity.
• Willingness to teach composition and professional writing as needed.
• Ability to maintain a consistent campus presence in Victoria, Texas.

Nice to have

• Specialization in fiction.
• Experience in creative nonfiction, genre fiction, publishing, or professional editing.
• Experience mentoring undergraduate writers and supporting first-generation students.
