WAVY Unpaid Hampton Roads Show Production Intern (TV Production)

Location: On site in Portsmouth, Virginia, United States; no telecommuting. Morning shifts, 12–15 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with specific days and times agreed with the supervisor.

hirify.global operates WAVY-TV 10, WVBT FOX43, and The CW Hampton Roads as local broadcast television stations.

What you will do

• Work with producers to plan and prepare a daily lifestyle and entertainment show.
• Write in the show rundown and create graphics.
• Support technical production as a floor director and assist directors.
• Greet guests, attach microphones, prepare props, and reset and wrap the set.
• Move cameras, clean the kitchen area, and support studio operations.
• Post stories to the website and create social media content.

Requirements

• Completed coursework in communications, TV production, journalism, theater, or a related field.
• Ability to remain calm under tight deadlines and communicate effectively with the production team and show guests.
• Must be enrolled in a college degree-granting program before starting.
• Must provide proof of enrollment in an internship course within that program.
• Willingness to learn how a local newsroom and television station departments operate.
