WAVY Unpaid Sports Intern (Sports Broadcasting)

Location: Portsmouth, Virginia, United States; onsite with no telecommuting

hirify.global operates WAVY-TV 10 and WVBT FOX43 television stations.

What you will do

• Write, shoot, and edit sports reports for newscasts.
• Work with photographers and sports reporters in the newsroom and field.
• Prepare stories for final on-air presentation.
• Learn how newsroom and television station departments work together.
• Work 12–15 hours per week onsite on a varying schedule from Sunday through Saturday.

Requirements

• Completed coursework in journalism and TV production.
• Understanding of journalistic integrity and interest in sports broadcasting.
• Working knowledge of video editing software such as AVID or Final Cut Pro.
• Must be enrolled in a college degree-granting program and provide proof of enrollment in an internship course.
• Must be available to work onsite in Portsmouth, Virginia; telecommuting is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
• Familiarity with sports and newswriting software.
