Director, On-Market Portfolio Leader (Genomics)

Location: US - California - San Diego; hybrid

Base salary: $187,400–$281,000 per year; variable cash programs and potential equity may also apply.

What you will do

• Lead governance, prioritization, and execution across the on-market product portfolio.
• Manage product performance, quality, reliability, customer experience, lifecycle planning, and end-of-life decisions.
• Structure portfolio data and insights to guide investment decisions, resource allocation, and project prioritization.
• Track portfolio and project performance, risks, quality metrics, customer impact, and business outcomes for senior stakeholders.
• Oversee cross-functional work across Development, Quality, Regulatory, Operations, Marketing, Commercial, and Business Development.
• Mentor on-market leadership staff and coordinate program management activities through product release.

Requirements

• Expertise in portfolio management, product lifecycle management, risk management, and long-term roadmap planning.
• Experience with Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, critical path analysis, and project tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, JIRA, or Asana.
• Knowledge of new product introduction, sustaining activities, design change management, quality management, compliance, and end-of-life planning.
• Ability to manage budgets, forecast costs, analyze product financial performance, and turn data into actionable insights.
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Bachelor’s degree and typically at least 18 years of related experience, including 10+ years of management experience.

Nice to have

• 10+ years as a Program Manager or Core Team Leader launching highly complex RUO products or platforms.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• MBA, business certificate, or equivalent business training.
