TL;DR
Staff Product Manager (AI Research & Engineering) (AI/data platforms): Building scalable training-data collection and human-in-the-loop systems for computer vision, structured data, and agentic AI products with an accent on data quality, throughput, model improvement, and cost efficiency. Focus on designing feedback loops, production-ready pipelines, expert annotation workflows, and cross-functional execution across multiple data collection sites.

Location: US Remote - California; travel to multiple data collection sites is required approximately once per month to once per quarter.

Salary: $165,848–$269,259 per year, with potential eligibility for bonuses, commissions, or other compensation.

What you will do

  • Define the strategy for training-data capabilities, including collection priorities, quality standards, review depth, confidence thresholds, and cost.
  • Own data collection end to end, covering procurement, preparation, capture, expert labeling, annotation, and scalable pipeline development.
  • Coordinate teams and sites to improve throughput, identify bottlenecks, and plan capacity across specialties and locations.
  • Design human-in-the-loop review workflows and feedback loops that convert expert corrections into training data.
  • Partner with ML Engineering, Operations, and subject matter experts to set direction and drive execution without direct authority.
  • Define metrics for data quality, model improvement, throughput, and cost efficiency; mentor Product Managers and improve product practices.

Requirements

  • Must be based in the United States, specifically California for this remote role.
  • 10+ years of product management experience, including building a product, platform, or capability from the ground up.
  • Experience with AI/ML or AI-enabled operational workflows where models and human expertise work together.
  • Strong systems thinking and experience owning measurable outcomes related to cost, efficiency, quality, or throughput.
  • Ability to influence technical teams, operators, and subject matter experts without direct authority.
  • Exceptional written communication and willingness to travel to data collection sites approximately monthly to quarterly.

Nice to have

  • Experience using AI tools and coding agents such as Claude Cowork, Claude Code, or Codex to improve product development and workflows.
