Senior Systems Architect, Precision Stage V - (E5) (Motion Control)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States; onsite. Travel required up to 20% of the time. Relocation is not eligible.

Salary: $163,000–$224,000 per year.

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end architecture of high-precision motion stages and mechatronic subsystems.
• Define servo-loop topology, control partitioning, feedforward strategies, sensors, actuators, and mechanical/control trade-offs.
• Set performance targets for nanometer-class positioning, dynamic following error, settling time, throughput, and reliability.
• Develop dynamic models, error budgets, stability and bandwidth analyses, vibration isolation, damping, and disturbance-rejection strategies.
• Integrate metrology sensors, motion controllers, FPGA/DSP systems, drives, amplifiers, and sensor-to-actuator signal chains.
• Lead architecture reviews, prototype qualification, system integration, supplier development, safety compliance, and technical communication.

Requirements

• BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Controls with 10–15+ years of experience; an MS is preferred.
• Expertise in control theory, servo and feedback control, multi-axis motion control, system identification, dynamic modeling, loop tuning, feedforward, and active vibration isolation.
• Experience with precision motion stages, semiconductor or comparable capital equipment, mechanical component selection, testing, troubleshooting, and release.
• Experience with motion controllers, FPGA/DSP-based real-time systems, drives, amplifiers, interferometers, encoders, and capacitive or optical sensors.
• Knowledge of SEMI S2/S8/S14, NFPA 79, F47, CE, and EMI/EMC safety standards, plus 3D/2D CAD tools and materials or failure analysis.
• Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, Excel, or equivalent modeling, simulation, and data analysis tools; strong communication and organizational skills.

• Managerial experience and interest in future growth.
• Experience with Siemens NX, Inventor, or AutoCAD.
• Experience supporting manufacturing and service organizations through training, documentation, and troubleshooting.
